106 pages, rebound in full brown leather, new end papers, spine gilt, light foxing on several pages, Hackett (page 45) illustrates a very worn front cover which is not present with this copy.

Hackett (R.G.) SOUTH AFRICAN WAR BOOKS, An Illustrated Bibliography, (1994), ‘A diary of the campaign in South Africa. The Battalion experiences severe fighting in battles at Willow Grange, Vaal Krantz, Monte Casino and Railway Hills. Following the occupation of Pretoria the West Yorks remained in the Transvaal chiefly employed in escort and garrison duties. At various times they were at Rustenberg in the west and Wakkestroom and Piet Retief in the south east. The record includes a list of casualties.’
