This moving letter is from Sir J .Percy Fitzpatrick, author of Jock of the Bushveld, in a self addressed envelope to a Mr Justice Horsley, Judges Chambers, Salisbury, Rhodesia, addressing him as "My dear old friend". The letter is one of thanks for sympathy on the death of his son, Major General Percy Nugent Fitzpatrick on the 14th. December, 1917, in the First World War. It is incorrectly dated 16 January 1917 - but the envelope is correctly postmarked Jan 17, 1918. The letter has moving content, both about Nugent, and about the recipient's son Geoff, who had apparently also perished during the war.
The letter is in fine state with folds and is accompanied by the hand stamped and addressed envelope and also by a printed card expressing thanks for letters of sympathy on Nugent's death.
