The 5 books in this lot are: 1) Carver, Field Marshal Lord: \"The National Army Museum Book of the Boer War.\" Original black boards with silver titling on the spine. Original dust jacket. Red end papers. xviii prelims, 301 pages, 7 maps, 47 black and white photographic illustrations. First published by Sidgewick & Jackson in association with the National Army Museum, London, 1999. Reasonably clean copy, but for some insect damage on the rear free end paper. 2) Rosenthal, Eric: \"Stars and Stripes in Africa. Being a History of American Achievements in Africa...etc., etc,.\" Original light red/salmon coloured cloth boards with gilt titling on the spine. xiii prelims, 306 pages, 46 black and white illustrations. First published by George Routledge & Sons, Carter Lane, E.C., 1938. A general history with a chapter on the Boer War. Reasonable, but a pen inscription on the half title page, \"National Travel Club of S.A.\" ownership stamps in green, binding a bit soiled. 3) Krige, Jan: \"American Sympathy in the Boer War.\" Original blue wraps (paperback) with black titling on the upper wrap in an ornamental border.258 pages, black and white illustrations. Details of publication are not given, the date after the foreword is 18 May 1933. Aside from age toned paper, this copy is clean and attractive. 4) Blackburn, Douglas + Caddell, Captain W.Waithman: \"Secret Service in South Afica.\" Original brown cloth boards with gilt titling on the spine and the upper board. Top edge gilt. v prelims, 380 pages. First published by Cassell and Company, London, 1911. The new end papers are a fresh white colour compared to the age toned text pages which also have a bit of foxing/spotting at the first few and last few pages. The binding is a bit worn. Edges sanded. Pen name on ffep. 5) Burnham, Major Frederick Russell: \"Scouting on Two Continents.\" Elicited and arranged by Mary Nixon Everett. Original dark wine/brown coth boards with green titling on the spine and in gilt on the upper board. xxii prelims, 370 pages, 31 black and white illustrations. First published by William Heinemann, Ltd., London, 1926. Book plate on front paste down. Corners bumped Some marks on the title page, but overall a decent copy.
