Six books: 1) Batts, H.J. :\"Pretoria From Within During the War 1899-1900.\" Original red cloth boards with gilt titling on the spine and the upper board. Decorated light green end papers. viii prelims, 231 pages, 12 black and white illustrations including the frontis portrait of Field-Marshall Earl Roberts. 2 pages of the publisher\'s advertisements at the rear. First edition published in London by John F. Shaw and Co. A reasonable copy, but the hinges are starting to crack. 2) Methuen, A.M.S. : \"Peace or War in South Africa.\" Original paper covered boards with yellow titling on the upper board. viii prelims, 224 pages. First edition published in London by Methuen & Co., 1901. The end papers are browned. 3)This book was reprinted from articles that appeared the North American Review, 1899. Various authors including James Bryce, Sydney Brooks,Dr F.V. Engelenberg. Andrew Carnegie, etc.: \"Briton and Boer - Both Sides of the Bouth African Question.\" Original yellow cloth boards with red titling on the spine and the upper board with red and black pictorial decorations on the upper board. 7 prelims, 251 pages, a total of 18 black and white illustrations, coloured folding map at the rear, followed by 4 pages of the publisher\'s advertisements. Published by Harper & Brothers, New York and London, 1900. Yellow binding a bit soiled. 4) Keane, A.H.: \"The Boer States - Land and People.\" Original red cloth boards with gilt titling on the spine. xx prelims, 313 pages, folding coloured map at the front and 40 pages of Methuen\'s catalogue at the rear. First edition, published by Methuen & Co., London, 1900. The map has a few tears and has been repaired with tape. 5)Pohl, Victor: \"Adventures of a Boer Family.\" Original paper covered boards with black titling on the spine. Original dust jacket. 8 prelims, map, 180 pages. Published by APB Bookstore, Johannesburg, 1946. This is a later edition which is often confused with the first edition. This book is in attractive condition, despite the wear and tear to the dust jacket. 6)McKenzie, Fred A.(spelt \'Mackenzie\' on front cover): \"Paul Kruger: His Life Story.\" Original green cloth boards with silver titling on the spine and the upper board, with a photographic image laid on. 120 pages, black and white illustrations, 16 black and white illustrations including the one on the cover, followed by eight pages of the publisher\'s advertisements. The binding of this book is intact, but grubby.
