The pictorial cream buckram binding is an excellent copy of the original 1895 first edition and the facsimile electro engraved plates are very well printed on stiff card to closely resemble the original printing.
Top edge gilt. Additional frontis portrait, titles and the publisher's 6 page introduction followed by the facsimile of the original edition with x prelims, 236 pages, 14 electro etchings with tissue guards, a further 12 full page plates and numerous in-text illustrations.
CONDITION DETAILS:The cardboard box is soiled and worn. The lid has an edge tear and the top right hand corner is split. The base of the box also has a split corner. The tissue guards have a little creasing. The binding is still very attractive, but has edge bumps - the head and tail of the spine and the corners, a little soiling, etc.
