Housed in the original slip case with a soft cloth inner lining, outer brown cloth covered boards and a pictorial front side.
Two pre-publication pamphlets are loosely inserted.
Original full brown polished calf with gilt decorations and titling. Top edge gilt. Additional frontis portrait, titles and the publisher's 6 page introduction, followed by the facsimile of the original edition with x prelims, 236 pages, 14 electro etchings with tissue guards, a further 12 full page plates and numerous in-text illustrations. The facsimile electro engraved plates are well printed and closely resemble those in the original 1895 first edition published in London by Henry Sotheran and Co.
CONDITION DETAILS: Overall a clean copy with some signs of use such as minor wear and soiling to the slip case, some abrasion marks on the leather binding - especially on the spine - a close up image is provided. A few of the tissue guards have creases, but are clean and intact.
