The cream coloured buckram binding on this edition is an excellent copy of the original 1895 first edition. The facsimile plates closely resemble the original electro-engraved plates.
Top edge gilt. Additional frontis portrait, titles and the publisher's new 6 page introduction followed by the facsimile of the original 1895 printing with x prelims, 236 pages, 14 etchings with tissue guards, a further 12 full page plates and numerous in text illustrations.
CONDITION DETAILS: A few minor soil marks. Some of the tissue guards are lightly creased. The title at the top of the spine is still crisp and clear, but lower down, the antelope head and publisher's device is faded and there is also some soiling.
