These 22 beautiful colour prints, made from the originals, were published on Permanent Building Society calendars between 1951 and 1975. Short descriptions accompany most of them. They would look most attractive framed.

Thomas Baines was born in Kings Lynn, England, in 1820. He came to South Africa in 1842 as a trained ornamental painter. His work is distinguished by its accuracy. Baines was an official War Artist in the eighth Frontier War and later was Artist to Livingstone's expedition to the Zambesi. He visited the Victoria Falls and made a trip to visit Lobengula.

Reference source: Edna and Frank Bradlow on calendars.
