14 hand-coloured lithographic plates by Keulemans some heightened with gum arabic, original blind stamped red cloth, titled gilt on the spine and with a gilt vignette of a flamingo, the cloth is lightly soiled and insect scarred, bookplate on the front paste-down endpaper, contents and plates are  bright, contained in a slip case with red cloth sides and a colour copy of one of the plates (Nectarinia Metallic) inset on the upper covers, the sides are covered with marbled paper (the slip case made by Peter Carstens), a very good copy.

Captain George Ernest Shelley (15 May 1840 – 29 November 1910) was an English geologist and ornithologist. He was a nephew of the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Ernest_Shelley)
