Contains the Halse family book plate on the front free end paper. Robin Halse was well known in South African hunting circles and his daughter, Jane, runs Rowland Ward Publications. Original green cloth boards with gilt titling and decorations on the spine and animal head gilt decorations on the upper board. Decorated end papers. xvii prelims, 455 pages, a total of 64 images, including the frontispiece, folding map and the 7 plates of animal heads. CONDITION DETAILS: The Robin Halse ownership stamp on an end paper is not a clear impression. The binding does have a bit of soiling and minor wear, but is still fresh and bright for its age. There is some foxing on the title page and the tissue guard. The map has a closed tear at the side edge where it is attached to the text block and the edge that is folded in has creases. The top edge of Plates I, II, and III have a stain at the top edge. A little foxing on the last end paper.
