A publication that was intended for private circulation, printed by William Clowes, London, circa 1906.

Publisher's light blue cloth binding with Captain Thomas Fowler's coat of arms embossed on the front panel. Binding tight and contents clean although with a bookplate from Johannesburg Public Library's reference section on front paste down with "withdrawn" stamped on it. Former owner R. S. Mennie's rubber stamp on front paste down and title page - I assume it to be the same R. S. Mennie who was the owner of Oaklands house in Johannesburg in the early part of the 20th century and whose family still owns the property.

194pp, colour frontispiece and a colour portrait of Sir Thomas Fowler, 11 illustrations, 3 maps and a sketch plan, top edge gilt, other edges uncut.

A memoir of Captain Thomas Fowler, 1st Wiltshire Imperial Yeomanry, killed in action at Moolman's Spruit, 1902. Includes many of his Boer War letters.
