Black cloth covers, 119 pages. A first front end page has been removed. An explanatory note in ink made by a previous owner on title page. This owner also made a pocket at rear where he / she included a typed note concerning the Scotts Railway Guards. Besides these, the book and content in very good condition.

Chapters include the early Kaffir Wars, Basuto Wars, Matabele war 1893, the Occupation of and Service in Pondoland 1894, The Langeberg Campaign 1897, Le Fleur Rebellion 1898. The South African War 1899 - 1902, Stormberg disaster, operations around Dordrecht, Labuschangne's Nek, advance to Aliwal North. Siege and Relief of Wepener, surrender of Boer Forces, escape of De Wet, advance to Zeerust, the 8th Division. Popkloof, Lotter's Commando, Wildefontein, General Court Martial and Peace.

Also the Regiment from 1903 to 1913, the Zulu Rebellion 1906, WW1 and operations in German South West Africa.
