xvi, 337 pages, frontispiece portrait of Stanley, 17 plates including a map of Stanley Falls district and a plan of Aruhwimi Camp, colour folding map of Congo and Its Tributaries at the end, full dark blue card with gilt borders and the gilt medallion of Aird House, Merchiston, Edinburgh on the upper cover, spine titled and decorated gilt in panels, marbled endpaper and edges. The leather is slightly worn along the edges, a very good copy.
