Cleaver died in the hospital at Dyatalawa Camp, Ceylon on 18th November 1900. Edited by his mother. He was at time Johannesburg advocate and field cornet.
A nice inscription on ffep: Ter vriendschaplijke herinnering aan den Heer D. F. du Toit..... signed and dated 1914 at Bloemfontein. With signatures of a Heunis and Nienaber.
