From the preface to the 1940, 1945, and 1947 Editions; It has not been thought necessary to reproduce the prefaces of each succeeding edition of this work. All told, there have been nearly thirty editions, with an aggregate number of nearly three hundred thousand copies. If we include the editions printed in foreign languages, the number would be close to 50,000 more, or nearly 350,000 in all. It therefore transpires that the book written by A.I.Root for beginners, has finally developed into the ABC and XYZ of Bee Culture.
A.I.Root's first book (published in 1877) was designed primarily for beginners, and hence the name, "ABC of Bee Culture". Later on there came a call for a book which would cover the need of the more advanced as well as that of the beginner......
