Two volume set. Bound in brown leather with red title panels on the spines, gilt tooling and raised bands and marbled paper covered boards. Edges marbled. Marbled paper end papers.
Volume one has xvi prelims, 389 pages, 15 plates, some with tissue guards, 66 in-text woodcuts and a large folding map in a pocket at the rear.
Volume two has xii prelims, 336 pages, 18 plates (one folds out), some with tissue guards, and 57 in-text woodcuts.
CONDITION DETAILS: The bindings are still firm, but there is some wear and the marbled paper on the boards is very worn. The leather corners are frayed. Each of the front paste downs has a bookseller's label. Internally clean with minor signs of use.
