First Edition. xvi, 343pp, 2 folding maps at rear, illustrated with black & white photos, top edge gilt, front joint cracked but sound, very attractive original pictorial decorated cloth, slightly rubbed, corners rather bumped, nick to top head of spine. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Account of two hunting expeditions through China and Tibet undertaken by Lt. John Weston Brooke, who was killed by Lolo robbers on December 24, 1908; Brooke started in Shanghai in August, 1906, and travelled through Western Szechuan and Eastern Tibet. The work is based on Brooke's diary, with other observations and photographs by W. N. Fergusson and C. H. Meares.
