After attending college in the USA, John Mellon devoted himself almost exclusively to big game hunting between 1964 and 1976. He lived in Nairobi (Kenya) for five years, but also spent some time in New Delhi (India). From here he went hunting all over India, Pakistan, Nepal, Indonesia, Thailand, Afghanistan, and Cambodia. Some of these trips were made on behalf of and at the expense of large museums. At the age of 30, Mellon was the youngest ever winner to receive the "Roy E. Weatherby Big Game Trophy" for his numerous hunting successes. An exclusive big game hunting award that is considered the “Oscar of the Hunting World”. (second.wiki.com)
