* Please note that one illustration is missing. The free front end paper has the Halse family book plate. Robin Halse was well known in South African hunting circles and his daughter, Jane, runs Rowland Ward Publications. This book has been re-bound in an appropriate period style at the Singapore & Straits printing office in black leather and book cloth, with raised bands on the spine with gilt titling and decorations on the spine. It is difficult to date this binding, likely to be 20thC, but it suits the book. The paste downs are of a slightly newer paper than the text. x prelims, 451 pages, 47 of 48 illustrations, including the frontis portrait of the author and the fold out map. The four tinted illustrations are present. Plate 41 should have been bound to face page 376, but it has been placed to face page 129. The missing illustration is plate numer 10, "Inyalas" and should have faced page 92. CONDITION DETAILS: The binding has a few scuff marks. The title page has been bound in at at an angle. Some end paper browning. A couple of isolated soil marks. Page 399/400 has a repair to the outer edge.
