London, B T Batsford, 1938. 1st Edition. Very good plus buckram cloth with device to front board. Fair to good pictorial dust jacket with loss to top and bottom heads of spine ( as is always the case ). Contents fine with 126 black and white photos by the author. Scarce.

Photographic record of a journey up the Nile to Kenya, across to Nigeria and North over the Sahara, with superb photographs by the famous fashion photographer. I have purposely omitted all sordidness of realism in my photographs, and have concentrated on the plastic and heroic side of an Africa which is slowly disappearing.". Baron George Hoyningen-Huene (September 4, 1900 – September 12, 1968) was a seminal fashion photographer of the 1920s and 1930s. He was born in Russia to Baltic German and American parents and spent his working life in France, England and the United States.
