London, Batsford, 1938. 1st edition. 114pp. Very good orange cloth covers with vignette on front board. Scarce pictorial dust jacket that has loss to the bottom and top head of spines. Contents fine. Illustrated with numerous excellent monochrome photos of an Africa of yesterday.
H-H travelled from Alexandria to the Sudan & East Africa, then via Uganda, the Congo and Chad to West Africa, Nigeria and via the Sahara to Algiers. An Africa "which is slowly disappearing with the ever-increasing supply of European and Japanese manufactured goods. Some day, when the entire Black Continent is clothed and reduced to banality, these documents may prove of interest."
