George Hoyningen-Huené was a photographer focused on travel and architectural photography. He is best known for the glamour photographs he took of Hollywood stars and high society, wherein he often brought much sculpture, draperies and other decoration into play. George Hoyningen-Huené was born in 1900 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. In 1925 Hoyningen-Huené started working in Paris with Vogue magazine and became their chief photographer. He was also a leading photographer for Harper's Bazaar, and moved to New York to work for it in 1935. In 1946 he went to Hollywood, serving as a color consultant on many films, such as A Star Is Born, Les Girls and Heller in Pink Tights, and achieving success as a fashion photographer for such renowned beauties as Greta Garbo, Katherine Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich, Sophia Loren and Ava Gardner, among others.
