A scarce title on the early diamond and gold discoveries in places such as Kimberley, Wesselton, Koffiefontein, Lichtenburg, Alexander Bay, Pilgrim's Rest, Barberton, The Rand, The Robinson Mile, Modderfontein. Also a chapter on Platinum, asbestos and copper, another on Types of Treasure Seekers, The Natives, and finally The Boer In The Background, Boer and Uitlander, etc...

Many black and white photos and illustrations included. The dark blue boards have light marks to the front and rear. Titles in gilt to the spine. The frontispiece page is loose from the rest of the book. Name in ink on rear endpaper.  Light foxing on page ends. 288 pages.
