A record of Alasdair Murray's short life as an officer in the Boer War. Arriving in South Africa in late March 1900, he died of wounds on June 3rd, received during "the skirmish at Senekal" a few days earlier. His letters home to family and friends are printed followed by press reports and many letters received by the family which give much detail about the battle and its aftermath from different perspectives.
