First Edition, Hardcover Quarto, bound in brown cloth boards and has 221 pages, black top-edge. Gilt design on the front board with git titles to the spine.

Jacket is in good condition (plastic protection), some minor creases and tears along the edges, jacket is price-clipped.

Head/heal are bumped and rubbed with a bit of wear along the edges, some staining marks are visible on the front/back boards.

Four illustrations including frontispiece of Sir Alfred Beit, a foreword by Lieut-General, The Right Hon. J.C. Smuts. Errata slip inserted on title page, previous owner’s inscription on the front end-papers.

Overall, the binding and the book are in good condition.
