COLTON, Calvin. THE LIFE AND TIMES OF HENRY CLAY, 2 volumes. NY: Barnes, 1846.  Publisher’s sea green cloth binding with gilt spine lettering and designs, all edges gilt.  

Some foxing, toning and light wear to text; cloth evenly faded; corners and spine edges rubbed, spine ends fraying. Overall in acceptable condition.  Early owner’s name on endpapers.  

A fair example of this style of binding, decorated with a cut of Clay’s estate, Ashford. About 9 1/4 inches tall.
