An album of photographs: candid images and studies of daily life, in Suriname and other Caribbean countries. [Various locations: 1961]. Quarto (10 1/8 x 10in; 256 x 254mm), thin card leaves with plastic covering, containing 29 photographs (9 7/8 x 8in; 252 x 203mm. and smaller). (Some with patches of discoloration - probably not 'fixed' correctly?). Original green plastic expandable file (some damage to the backstrip).
A fine selection - the best transcend reportage and become art. The countries identified are 'Surinam' [sic.] (11, dated 'Feb. 61'); Barbados (4, all but one dated 'March 61'); Martinique (3, one dated 'Feb. 61'); Tobago (2, one dated 'March 61'); Guadaloupe (1, dated 'March 61').
The photographer visited Surinam and Martinique in February 1961, and continued to Barbados, Tobago and Guadaloupe in March of the same year. [See images]
