A general account of the Geology of the Cape Colony, using some of the information gathered by the Geological Commissions Geological Survey started in 1896. This work is the first of a series (South African Science Series) designed by Dr Muir, SGE of the Cape at the time and commissioned by him. 21 b/w photograph plates, 27 figures/diagrams, 1 fold-out colour coded geological map of the Cape Colony. Pages [i-iv]v-xvii pp 1-463. No Dust Jacket. Dark blue cloth-covered boards, gilt series title on front cover, book titles on spine. Boards slightly spotted and stained, edgeworn, small tear at top of spine. Binding good, some foxing of first and last few pages, including coloured fold-out map. Signature of a previous owner on free endpaper. General condition Very Good.
