Sir Herbert Baker's autobiography. Befriended in his youth by Cecil John Rhodes, Baker designed famous capital buildings in Pretoria and New Dehli. He also designed many churches and cathedrals, war cemeteries and memorials and houses. His buildings, even those designed for private use, were on a grand scale, and he always paid great attention to detail. His work brought him into contact with many leaders and prominent personalities across the English-speaking world.
