The system of computation adopted in these maps was organised by Dr. J. Schlresinger, of Johannesburg

Elephant folio (770 x 590 mm). Title page; Contents; Index to Companies, Farms and Districts; Index to Farms of the Witwatersrand District; 42 fine full page coloured maps, half dark brown leather with light brown cloth sides, title in gilt on the upper cover and along the spine – there is some loss (9cms) of the leather at the top of the spine which does not affect the titling, corners bumped and worn, marbled endpapers with some small holes caused by insects, the front free endpaper is similarly affected, there are two small holes (1cm) in the margin of Map 3, otherwise the maps are in fine condition, overall a very good copy.

Not in Mendelssohn (Sidney) A South African Bibliography or A South African Bibliography to the Year 1925 or the Supplement.

Scarce, we have records of selling two copies in the past fifty years.

Standard Encyclopaedia of South Africa, volume 5, page 245, ‘Charles Sydney Goldmann was associated with powerful mining and financial groups in the Transvaal. He became a partner in the S.
