The system of computation adopted in these maps was organised by Dr. J. Schlresinger, of Johannesburg.

Title page; Contents; Index to Companies, Farms and Districts; Index to Farms of the Witwatersrand District; 42 fine full page coloured maps, half dark brown leather with light brown cloth sides – title in gilt on the upper cover and along the spine – the leather is splitting along the joints and worn at the corners and the cloth is spotted and stained, marbled endpapers, some foxing on the preliminary pages but the maps are clean and bright.

Standard Encyclopedia of South Africa, volume 5, page 245, ‘Charles Sydney Goldmann was associated with powerful mining and financial groups in the Transvaal. He became a partner in the S. Neumann companies in 1895 and by 1905 was chairman of six mining companies. He acted as war correspondent in the Second Anglo-Boer War for The Argus and The Standard is the author of “With General French and the cavalry in South Africa” well as various works on gold mining.’
