Copy number 5 of an edition limited to 250 specially bound copies signed by Gail van Lingen, around whose battlefield paintings this book was created.

The authors of the text are all well known for their contributions to SA military history: George Chadwick, George Duxbury, John Laband, Pamela McFadden, Jeffrey Mathews and Gilbert Torlage.

Contained in the original slipcase which is covered with maroon red book cloth with hand marbled paper and leather trim. The slipcase matches the binding with maroon goatskin and hand marbled paper covered boards with a title label on the spine. 144 pages, 64 pages have full colour plates including the 19 reproductions of Gail van Lingen's paintings, 22 maps and 162 black and white historical photographs.

CONDITION DETAILS: A small ownership label on the front free end paper. A few signs of use. The slipcase has a narrow strip running down one side that has been sun faded.
