How it works

Softcover Quarto, red paper covers and a black paper spine with 260 pages. Black titling on the front cover and has silver titles to the spine.

Some light wear on the head and heel and along the edges, also has a white label on the front cover and a fold mark on the back cover.

This detailed book takes the reader through the many battles fought during the Boer War in an almost week-by-week diary format beginning on 20 October 1899 at Talana Hill and ending almost a year later on 24 September with The Advance to Komati Poort. Each dated battle is illustrated with a detailed map followed by several pages of informed narrative.

There is a section containing British Orders of Battle and explanatory passages about points of interest such as the horse problem and refugee internment camps.

The book contains 52 maps, foxing can be seen on the back end-paper. Overall, the book and the binding are in very good condition.
