Autobiography of one of the greatest of the old professional elephant hunters. "Bell of Africa" compiled and edited from Bell's own papers by his lifelong friend Col. Townsend Whelen. One of the great adventurers of his time. Arriving in Mombassa in 1896 he became a lion hunter for the Uganda railway, then off to the Yukon gold rush, he found no gold but began a business shooting game for the city of Dawson. During the South African war he served with the Canadian Mounted Rifles, was taken prisoner and escaped. For 25 years he hunted throughout Africa. During WWI he was a member of the Royal Flying Corps and won a Military Cross.
