How it works

Black ivory, a tale of adventure among slavers of East Africa.

vi plus 416pp plus 16pp. Original pictorial cloth hardcover. Several woodcut illustrations.

Binding is slack. Sight foxing to prelims, otherwise contents are clean. Very good.

A selection from the most trustworthy sources on the telling points of the slave trade, woven together into a tale, the warp of which is composed of thick chords of fact; the woof of slight lines of fiction are just sufficient to hold the fabric together. Exaggeration has easily been avoided, because, as Dr. Livingston says in regard to the slave trade, \"exaggeration is impossible.\"
