Truman Capote's 1958 novella – has become more famous for its visual short hands, its signifiers of New York chic and fashionable femininity, than its actual story or characters. In it, a contemporary writer recalls his early days in New York City, when he makes the acquaintance of his remarkable neighbour, Holly Golightly, who is one of Capote's best-known creations.
