Bulawayo Meeting. 1897

Written in an early hand on the mount of the photograph: 'This is a group of visitors who were taken to visit a gold mine in the vicinity of Bulawayo, Rhodesia. I am sitting in the front next to Gordon Wilson in front of the Col. & Stanley." Captioned in the negative: "Indaba at Govt. House, Bulawayo. J.W. & Co 356."

Photograph is silver-gelatin with good contrast and tonality, minor creases to edges where it is laid down. Reverse side: Palace Hotel, Bulawayo. Where the guests were accommodated. J.W.& Co. 368. 9.25 x 11.25 in. 24 x 29 cm on board 10.375 x 14.25 in. 26.5 x 36 cm.
