How it works

288 pages: illustrations, portraits, maps on endpapers. Paper covered boards, dust wrapper. Corner bumped.

The South African Defence Force used the "Bushmen" first as trackers, later as soldiers, and finally, after realising their potential, as recce or special force troops. They proved themselves over and over again, but after the Border War ended in 1990, they were sidelined and ignored by Pretoria and left to go their own way. However, having been removed from their normal habitat and having lived in army bases for a decade, many found their situation untenable.
