De Meillon came to South Africa as a Second Lieutenant of the Royal Navy. He was later invalided out of the Navy in Simon's Town after contracting malaria.
Also included is the booklet by Robert C Shell entitled De Meillon's People of Colour.
Dust wrapper has wear to edges with small closed tear and some loss of colour. Internally clean. A good copy.
