How it works

Register

The scarce first edition of Rider Haggard’s first book and one of only 750 copies. This copy has an interesting provenance, being from the library of the Afrikaans poet, Jan F. Celliers, with his signature on the title page.

The original green gilt embossed cloth boards are lightly worn, most notably at the extremes of the spine. The covers also have several stains – please see the images. The front hinge is cracked but holding firmly and the rear hinge is intact. Slight lean to the spine. Internally the book is clean and without foxing and outside of the Celliers signature, unmarked.  294pp. All edges uncut.
