Haggard\'s first book was not a novel, but his study of the recent events in Zululand (the Anglo-Zulu War) and the Transvaal (including annexation and the First Anglo-Boer War). This is the second edition of this highly collectable item of Africana. Orignally published in 1882 in a small edition, this second edition has an extensive new introduction of 62 pages, mainly updating the author\'s observations on and concerns for the Zulu people.
