Five lessons on psychoanalysis or On psychoanalysis ( Über Psychoanalysis ) is a work by Sigmund Freud published in 1910 by Deuticke . These are five lectures given by Freud in 1909 at Clark University in the United States. The text was first published in 1910 in the English language in the American Journal of Psychology . Translated for the first time into French by Yves Le Lay , it appeared in 1920-1921 in La Revue de Genève under the title “Origin and development of psychoanalysis”. The Payot editions published it in the translation of Yves Le Lay under the title La psychanalysein 1921, then in 1924 in the same translation under the title Five lessons on psychoanalysis.
