First edition in original unrestored state of this early Haggard title and his last triple decker novel. All 3 volumes, in the original red cloth, have had library labels removed from the front boards, leaving pale stains (see images). However there are no internal ex library markings. From the collection of G. Carleton Jones with his bookplate on each front free endpaper. The books are moderately worn with some bumping of corners and edges. There is some mild internal staining and foxing but the books are generally clean inside. The inner hinges of volume 1 are starting but are intact in the other volumes. Only a good copy but with a low reserve price.
