First edition: 3 volumes, 325 + 334 + 332 pages, recent full green crushed morocco by Bayntun (Riviere), Bath, England – spines decorated gilt in panels, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt, complete with half title pages, a very good copy.

Scott 2. Haggard’s first novel. The first draft was entitled “Angela”. A second draft was made and the title changed to “There Remaineth a Rest”.  The novel, under the title “Dawn”, was published by Hurst and Blackett, the first printing consisted of 500 copies.
