This is by far Eugene Marais's first book and would seem to be exceedingly scarce. It was published by the Land en Volk, the newspaper which he owned and edited. In it he is described as " Of the Inner Temple, Barrister-At-Law, Advocate of the Supreme Court of the Transvaal". Although not a literary work, this 104pp. book is a necessary and very hard to find addition to any Eugene Marais collection. This copy is bound in rather worn half calf and buckram. It has some splitting along the front joint and the front hinge is weak and has been strengthened. The endpapers are foxed. The ffep. bears the rubber stamp of a law firm, as does pp.84. All in all only a fair copy of a fragile and very rare book.
