The cloth is stained and dull, front hinge split but holding on the ties, plate at page 62 has been repaired with tape and this is now stained, plates at pages 66 & 110 loose and with small tears at the fore edges.

There is also an account of the Witwatersrand and the De Kaap gold fields, the latter having been compiled by Mr P.A. Ogilvie. Several articles on the gold fields were contributed by other writers.'
