First Edition: 89 pages + 1, decorated paper wrappers, upper cover printed in red and blue, bookplate of Alpheus Fuller Williams, rusted staple binding, marks from a rusted paperclip on several pages, the covers are worn at the edges and on the spine is torn, overall a good copy of a scarce siege account, now preserved in a protector.

Five copies of the first edition are listed in A South African Bibliography volume 2 page 72.

It is likely that the author was a member of the Beaconsfield Town, or Border Guard. A list of the officers of the Guard appears on the verso of the front cover.
