October 1899 to February 1900, By a Beaconsfield Resident.
2nd Edition: 89 pages, decorated paper wrappers, upper cover printed in red and blue, stapled binding. There is some light foxing throughout, top and bottom of the spine are frayed and a 3 cm tear in the margin of the back cover, signature of a previous owner appears on the front cover and on the first page of text. Overall a good copy of a scarce siege account.
Hackett, South African War Books, An Illustrated Bibliography, page 149. lists the second edition only. Four copies of the first edition are listed in A South African Bibliography.
It is likely that the author was a member of the Beaconsfield Town, or Border Guard. A list of the officers of the Guard appears on the verso of the front cover.
