The text has been corrected throughout with pencil annotations which change the original Dutch text into Afrikaans.

"Tannie" van die Brandwag was the pseudonym of Hester van Heerden (1873-1947), who acquired national fame with her children's column in The Sentinel. She was married to Izak van Heerden, who wrote under the pseudonym Vaalswaer.
