With a foreword by Sir Peter Scott.

This copy comes with the loose insert bearing the copy number 610. An image of this insert is provided - lying on the front end paper. This insert, with a picture of eggs and ducklings in a nest, was supposedly issued with this edition, but many copies of this book seem to be without it.

Original dust jacket. Original green cloth boards with gilt titling on the spine and a decorative device on the upper board. Decorated end papers. 150 pages and 37 colour plates by Gail Darroll with numerous black and white in-text pencil drawings.

CONDITION DETAILS: There is a bookseller's label on the front paste down. The corners and spine are bumped, resulting in creases to the dust jacket. The inside flap of the dust jacket has edge creases.
